Benefit Bakes
We
regularly host what we call benefit bakes. These are evenings in Flatbread
Kitchen (our restaurants in Waitsfield and Middlebury), devoted to raising
not only funds but also consciousness about issues and individuals we
feel deserve attention. We normally offer to contribute a certain portion
of the price of each flatbread sold during the evening of the benefit
bake. Over the years these evenings have benefited causes including: families
left homeless by hurricane Katrina; Bear Witness, a local group of citizens
concerned with preserving the habitat of New England bear populations;
Project Gesundheit, a group of doctors and entertainers wishing to build
a free-hospital in North Carolina; Sustainable Food for our Schools, a
movement to improve the quality and integrity of the food children eat
in school lunch programs.
American Flatbread hosts about 8 benefit bakes per year. We publicize
them via advertisements in The Valley Reporter, The Addison Co Independant,
and will try to list them on this website below and in our Announcements
area.
