American Flatbread – Flatbread Kitchen
Dedication
Friday and Saturday May 31 and June 1, 2002
Tonight’s menu and baking are dedicated to
Come Unite
Sunday, June 2, 2-5 PM, Lareau Farm
Violence comes in many guises
I would count them if I could
But it would turn my stomach
All about, and I fear
I would find no end
To its many ways.
It is not, then, violence’s deeds
That we can measure, but rather
Our response to it that truly matters,
For it is our response that gives form
To our lives, and the world that follows.
We are more social, more as bees than lone wolves,
An act of violence against one is an act of violence against all.
This Sunday afternoon, a very brave woman and friend of mine is hosting
Come Unite, an educational event to help us, as individuals, understand our role when violent offenders re-enter our communities. If you come, which I hope you will, there will be things that you see and learn that will be disturbing.
But far more disturbing is, as a member of a community, standing by, uncaring, as one of our own cowers in unrelenting fear; a fear stronger than any one of us, but far weaker than our united care and love.
Thank you for coming tonight.
Love,
George
