American Flatbread – Flatbread Kitchen
Friday and Saturday March 22+23, 1996
Tonight’s menu and baking are dedicated to
My Other Brother
My other brother
Stands alone.
Betrayed, enslaved
Away from home.
My other brother
On broken knees,
Impoverished by
My racist greed.
Unknown, unloved,
Untouched, unheard,
Without country or nest,
Like some wind blown bird.
But now I see
My other brother
By strength of will and faith,
Rise out of the ash of my ignorance,
…and I…I, his younger brother,
Relearn the lessons children teach;
Love, and care, and friendship,
Now, not beyond our reach.
Welcome to Flatbread, everyone.
Love,
George
