Portland, OR
Hello Portland!
American Flatbread has found a new home in Portland, Oregon, in the newly renovated General Automotive Building at 411 NW Park Ave. We are working hard to begin baking summer 2010 for our North Park neighbors and the greater Portland community, accentuating the abundance of artisanal local meats, cheeses, produce and foraged foods on our wood-fired flatbread.
An onsite brewery supplying our taproom with Zero Gravity craft brews will be constructed after we open the restaurant.

PRESS RELEASE - ConoverBond Development, a regional leader in new and historic property development, today announced the signing of American Flatbread Company to lease space in the General Automotive Building, located in the Park Blocks in the heart of the Pearl District of Portland. The building features a two-story modern addition above a traditional three story brick structure. Designed by Portland’s SERA architects and built by Fortis Construction,
the building also features expansive, operable windows, exterior decks and high ceilings. This striking new addition to the Pearl was built to the highest environmental standards and is pursuing LEED Platinum certification for the shell and core – a first for a commercial renovation in downtown Portland. Located at 411 NW Park Street, the General Automotive Building is an ideal mix of first floor neighborhood retail (10,000 sq. ft.) and unique urban office space (40,000 sq. ft.)
The Portland restaurant will be the third expansion for the Vermont based company. It is the first on the West Coast and includes a craft brewing operation. The menu is simple: Wood-fired pizza baked in a primitive earth and stone oven, made from nearly 100% local and organic ingredients. They will feature an extensive wine list and serve not only house-brewed beer, but some of the finest beers from the region and the world.
“We chose the General Automotive building for several reasons. We love being on the North Park Blocks; this is a centrally located part of Portland that serves as a kind of oasis between the Pearl, Old Town and Downtown. It has been our desire to be a kind of “Third Place” (see Ray Oldenberg’s “The Great Good Place”) to our customers and neighbors and we feel this location gives us the perfect opportunity to be just that to a wide range of Portlanders.” Matt Wilson.
Rob Brewster, President of ConoverBond Development said, “When we decided to renovate a building in Portland, the Pearl District’s North Park Blocks was our first choice. I’ve always wondered why the North Park Blocks took… read more.
